The ITC programme for 2008 currently offers a range of five courses and workshops designed for both specialists and generalists in radioactive waste management. The courses will be run in Switzerland, Japan and the USA. With the exception of the OBRA workshop (which is intended principally for local community representatives associated with this EU 6th Framework project), all the courses are open to any interested participant. The courses in the USA and Japan are broad in structure and content, covering all key aspects of geological disposal of radioactive wastes. Each course has a specific flavour that will highlight issues and work currently taking place in the host countries. The June 'Cement' course and the July TIMODAZ course are more specialised in nature, aimed at scientists and engineers designing or assessing repositories. Nevertheless, they provide a full background to the use of cementitious materials and to the engineering and evaluation of excavations in clays for the more generally interested participant. Most of our courses involve field visits to relevant laboratories, demonstration facilities, repositories or other underground facilities.
This site is regularly updated as more details, including costs and registration information, become available for each course. If you are interested in any course and the registration information is not yet indicated, you should in any case contact us so that we can make sure that you are alerted when we have specific updates.
